Theatre Play: The Woman in the Film

Combining live performance of film music by a top brass band, new and existing film footage and theatrical scenes ‘on screen’, and one man ‘on stage’,"The Woman From The Film" tells the story of an isolated man. Sitting alone in his dark room, he has lost all perception of reality and time. He finds his only companion in the immense screen that sits opposite to him, taking him to different places, different realities, every time it lights up. The screen has become a friend that has always been there, for thousands of movies.

At one evening, the border between reality and the imaginary fades completely, as a woman in his favourite film looks straight at him and speaks, to him! What follows is an epic journey, combining live theatre, film and TV footage. Blockbusters combined with Arthouse, Film Noir combined with soap operas.

The isolated man finds himself for instance in a kung fu fight scene of Kill Bill, and through an impressive ‘still’ from The Matrix, lands in a very emotional conversation from The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, after which he has a hard time arguing with Carly Tenney from As the World Turns.

Perhaps you know the impressive music from The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter? How about the energising and contagious theme from Austin Powers, or the emotional music from Amélie? The Provinciale Brassband Groningen is prepared to play it all!
